Kansas City goalkeeper Kevin Hartman has joined the U.S. national team training camp after Chivas USA's Zach Thornton got hurt.

Thornton sustained a slight strained left hip flexor, team spokesman Michael Kammarman said Friday.

Two other goalkeepers are in camp ahead of the Feb. 24 exhibition against El Salvador in Tampa, Fla.: D.C. United's Troy Perkins, who started last month's 3-1 loss to Honduras, and Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando.
