Ryan Giggs says he is not looking past the end of his interim spell in charge of Manchester United after getting off to a dream start.
A 4-0 victory over Norwich City on Saturday saw United offer the perfect response at the end of a testing week which saw them part with the services of David Moyes after just 10 months in the Old Trafford hot-seat.
Club stalwart Giggs has been entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing first-team affairs until the end of the season, with no decision taken as yet regarding a long-term successor to Moyes.
Holland coach Louis van Gaal is considered to be the favorite to take the role - due to his vast experience of working across Europe - but Giggs is in the mix and a positive end to the campaign would do his cause no harm.
The Welshman is refusing to get caught up in a debate regarding a possible future in the dugout, though, with it imperative that focus is locked on the present and the push for a top-six finish.
Giggs told Sky Sports: "It's not something that I'm thinking of at the moment. It's just these four games.
"It's taken so much out of me this week that I haven't really had time to look too far into the future. My job now is to get the players ready for Sunderland."
Asked what United officials have told him on the plan heading forward, Giggs added: "They've just said to me, 'You've got the job for four games'. That's one down, three to go.
"As far as I'm concerned, that's where my concentration is. I'll do the job to the best of my ability and then after that we'll just have to wait and see what happens."
While reluctant to put himself in the frame to take the post on a full-time basis, Giggs admits he has enjoyed his first taste of life on the other side - after a glittering 24-year playing career.
He said: "I did enjoy it - 4-0, it's a dream day for us. I'm really pleased with the performance. It's always nice to end the game like we did, scoring goals and creating chances.
"The first half we were a little bit slow, so I just reminded them that the tempo needs to be quicker and we need to be a little bit faster. They reacted well to that."
Selection posers did, however, offer something of a headache.
Giggs added: "I didn't sleep last night, for that reason. Players who weren't even on the bench, and leaving the likes of Juan Mata out of the starting XI, it was a difficult decision and a position that I haven't been put in before.
"It was really tough. I'm interim manager but I'm also one of their team-mates, so to leave them out was tough.
"I could have played two teams because the response of the players this week has been brilliant. I trust them all, so it was really difficult to choose the team.
"But, of course, the likes of Rio (Ferdinand) and Vida (Nemanja Vidic) and Patrice (Evra) have got that experience.
"I wanted experience in the team because I knew it would be an emotionally-charged day and that we wouldn't have things all our own way - Norwich are fighting for their lives. I know these players, the experienced players, and they didn't let me down."
Giggs himself is very much one of the experienced heads, and he insists that his playing days have not been put behind him despite swapping boots for a suit against Norwich.
He said: "I haven't had time to train this week. I'll start again on Monday.
"I knew it was going to be a busy week last week, all the things that entail a manager's job, but I'll get back on the pitch. I can't wait, to be honest."
