The English Football Association has rejected Arsenal's appeal against Gervinho's three-match suspension for violent conduct.

The Ivory Coast striker was sent off on his debut against Newcastle United in a 0-0 draw on Saturday.

The FA said it heard the club's appeal Tuesday and dismissed it, meaning Gervinho must serve his ban with immediate effect. The forward is still eligible for Tuesday's Champions League qualifier against Udinese.
