Germany's players can each look forward to a bonus of €250,000 ($339,000) if they bring the World Cup trophy home from South Africa this year.

The German football federation says it has reached an agreement with the players on a bonus system identical to the one drawn up for the 2008 European Championship.

Bonuses will start with payments of €50,000 each for reaching the quarterfinals. The players would get €100,000 for getting as far as the semifinals and €150,000 for reaching the final.

Germany has won three World Cup titles, the last in 1990. It reached the semifinals at the last tournament in 2006, played at home.

The tournament starts June 11.
