Genoa, Italy's oldest football club, will send a delegation to visit Pope Francis as part of its anniversary celebrations.
The delegation, led by general director Nicola Bignotti and former captain Marco Rossi, will be present at the pope's general audience on Wednesday.
Genoa, which is celebrating its 120th anniversary, will present the pope with a jersey emblazoned with his name and the No. 1 as well as a commemorative silver plate.
Francis, the first pontiff from Latin America, is an avid football fan. Since his election as pope in March, he has met several football teams and has a growing collection of jerseys.
