Attacking trio Bobby Zamora, Andy Johnson and Damien Duff all missed the draw against Chelsea through injury, offering the 18-year-old a chance to make his mark on the team. It was the Switzerland Under-19 attacker's first ever Premier League start after coming on as a substitute against Swansea earlier in December. After impressing at Stamford Bridge, it is expected that Frei will stay in the side for the trip to face Norwich City on New Year's Eve. Manager Jol said: "Frei played in the Carling Cup (against Chelsea) and was one of the best on the pitch. "He played 120 minutes and that was in my mind, so I thought maybe he can do it again. "Hopefully he can become a regular for us now." Fulham's draw against Chelsea means they are 13th in the Premier League but have the chance to finish 2011 in ninth, should they beat the Canaries. Despite winning just once away from home this season, the Cottagers have frustrated Arsenal and Chelsea, holding both teams to draws in the last month.
