Frosinone punishment to play 2 matches in neutral stadium

ROME (AP) Newly promoted Frosinone will have to play two Serie A home matches in a neutral stadium after its appeal was rejected and the sanctions expanded.
Frosinone beat Palermo 2-0 last month in the second leg of a playoff to win 3-2 on aggregate and earn promotion back into Serie A after a two-year absence.
However, the match was marred by crowd trouble and Frosinone was initially penalized with a 25,000 euro ($29,000) fine and the obligation to play two matches behind closed doors.
The appeals court rejected its attempt to overturn the decision on Friday and instead increased the punishment, meaning those two matches will be played in a stadium other than the Benito Stirpe.
