Frings considers MLS switch

Torsten Frings will set his sights on a move to MLS if he fails to land a new contract with Werder Bremen at the end of this season.
The 33-year-old midfielder has played for Bremen for over 10 years across two stints but has yet to agree terms on a new deal with the Bundesliga club's hierarchy.
Frings has spent his whole career in Germany - having also had spells at Alemannia Aachen, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich - but insists he will look farther afield if released come the summer.
And New York - home of the Red Bulls MLS franchise, which already boasts the talents of Thierry Henry, Rafael Marquez and Juan Pablo Angel - appears to be his preferred destination.
"I will definitely have one or two [more] years playing football," Frings said in an interview with Die Welt newspaper.
"Werder Bremen is for sure my first choice [but] if I leave, it will not be for another German club.
"The United States, it excites me. I am fan of America, and New York is my dream city."
