Fox: Norwich relaxed after win

The Canaries recorded a hard-earned 2-1 Premier League victory at Bolton last weekend, where manager Paul Lambert had made half-a-dozen changes to his starting XI. After successive defeats to Chelsea and West Brom, it means Norwich now have five points from as many games as they prepare to take on the Black Cats on Monday night, who also chalked up their first win last weekend with an impressive 4-0 romp over Stoke. Fox, though, knows all the effort at Reebok Stadium will have been for nothing if Norwich do not get a positive result on Monday. "Now we have got that win under our belts, which our performances have deserved, the lads are a lot more relaxed and there is a lot better atmosphere around the place," he said. "It just shows there is nothing to fear now we have got that weight off our shoulders, we can go and turn those good performances into three points which we need. "If we can go to places like Bolton and win it gives everyone a massive confidence boost going into the next few games." Fox added on the club's official website, www.canaries.co.uk: "We want to put down a marker on Monday and certainly try to get three points, because we need good results at home. "We are capable of winning away from home, we proved that last year, so hopefully we can get that home form right, then that should see us start to progress." Fox impressed on his return to the side last weekend, having a hand in both of Norwich's first-half goals. The 27-year-old former trainee admitted it had been a long wait for another taste of first-team action, having last featured on the opening day of the season at Wigan, while also playing in the disappointing 4-0 home Carling Cup defeat by MK Dons last month. "I missed three and it felt like an eternity, but you have got to realise that there are a lot of games and there is a lot of competition for places," he said. "You have got to be ready to step up when needed to perform, and that's what everyone in the group is about really. "The lads that aren't playing know that their chance could be just around the corner and they need to produce when called upon." Fox believes having an interchangeable group is positive for the challenges ahead. "It keeps everyone on their toes, knowing you are only one game away from not playing, or a game away from being in the team," he said. "Things turn around in football very quickly, and everyone needs to make sure they're ready to be called upon - the manager has said that from day one, and that is the case with every member of the squad. "When you do play you need to try and produce your best and hopefully that will be enough to try and get you in the team for the next week. If it is not, then you have got to knuckle down and try to get back in the team." Norwich boss Lambert also worked with Fox during their time at Colchester, signing the former Blackpool man in June 2010. "Foxy has got that great habit of giving the ball to his team-mate - and being at Manchester United when he was younger has obviously given him a great grounding," Lambert said. "He can see things with one touch which it takes other footballers to do in two or three - he is just a marvellous footballer."
