Former Switzerland player Willy Kernen dies at 80

Willy Kernen, a former Switzerland international who played at the 1954 World Cup, has died. He was 80. Kernen died Thursday, L'Impartial newspaper reported Saturday. It gave no cause of death. Kernen played four games for Switzerland at the 1954 World Cup, which was held in Switzerland. He made 41 international appearances in his career, which lasted into the 1960s. As a player with FCC La Chaux-De-Fonds, Kernen won two Swiss league titles and six cup titles.
