The former head of the Serbia Football Association who is charged with embezzling ?4 million ($5.3 million) together with three of his associates has pleaded not guilty at the start of their trial.
Zvezdan Terzic surrendered to police in November after nearly three years on the run after he was accused of corruption in the sale of four Serbian players to foreign clubs, including current Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic's move from OFK Beograd to Lokomotiv Moscow in 2006.
Terzic told judges Monday that he did nothing illegal in the sale of the players while he was the president of OFK, the Serbian first division club, between 1997 and 2005.
If found guilty, he could face up to 12 years in prison.
