Former journalist, PR person Rod Allen dies

Rod Allen, a public relations consultant with Football Federation Australia, has died after a fall on Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour. He was 45.
Police said Sunday that Allen, who was camping on the island with his wife to help celebrate a friend's 50th birthday, fell about 50 meters (150 feet) to his death early Sunday.
Allen accompanied Australia's team to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup.
The former journalist later formed his own consulting company and most recently was the media manager for the A-League's Western Sydney Wanderers, who clinched first place in their inaugural season on Friday.
FFA chief executive David Gallop said Allen ''was regarded as an extremely professional and well-respected journalist, editor and media manager.''
