Supporter groups Spirit of Shankly (SOS) and Keeping Everton In Our City (KEIOC) launched their plans at the Museum of Liverpool today under the banner All Together Now. While a joint stadium is not on the agenda - even though the clubs are separated only by Stanley Park - the hope is to encourage redevelopment by attracting educational, community, recreational, leisure and retail facilities to the area. Working with the City Council, the University of Liverpool's Dr Alan Southern and the private sector, the groups have produced a prospectus aimed at attracting developers to more than 40 acres of land. "I believe football clubs should be an asset of their communities," KEIOC's Colin Fitzpatrick said. "The mere presence of Everton injects over £10million into the local economy throughout the season and Everton carry out incredible work through their award-winning Everton in the Community programme. "The Football Quarter is designed to complement and build on these achievements for the benefit of the fans, their communities and of course the clubs' prosperity." Paul Gardner, representing Spirit of Shankly, added: "Both KEIOC and SOS want to work with the clubs, the city council, the community and the private sector in delivering The Football Quarter."
