At least 18 people were hurt in fan rioting after Coritiba drew 1-1 with Fluminense and was relegated to the second division of the Brazilian league.

Hundreds of Coritiba fans charged the field after Sunday's match, tearing down stands and battling with riot police, who responded by firing rubber bullets.

Fans also trashed at least four Curitiba bus stations, and authorities said three officers were hurt in the mayhem.

Fights between fans also broke out in Rio de Janeiro after Flamengo secured its first Brazilian league title in 17 years with a 2-1 victory over Gremio.
