Flamengo went second in the Campeonato Brasileiro with a 2-0 win over Gremio.

Thiago Neves opened the scoring in the 27th minute and Ronaldinho continued his good form by bagging the second in the 72nd minute, lifting his side above Sao Paulo, who did not play on Saturday.

Palmeiras held off Atletico Mineiro to claim a 3-2 home win.

Marcos Assuncao put the hosts ahead in the 14th minute, but Magno Alves levelled two minutes later.

Luan and Patrik gave Palmeiras a two-goal cushion in the second half, but Wesley made it an uncomfortable final 10 minutes when he pulled one back.

In the day's other game, Sebastian Abreu scored the only goal as Botafogo won 1-0 at Cruzeiro.
