The Chicago Fire and midfielder Logan Pause have agreed to a two-year contract extension through 2013.

The deal was announced on Tuesday.

A third-round pick in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft, Pause is heading into his 10th season with the Fire and has been with the team longer than any other current player. With 227 regular-season appearances, he ranks second on the club's all-time list behind retired defender C.J. Brown (296).

In a statement, Fire coach Frank Klopas says Pause has been ''a valuable asset to this club for a decade'' and is a ''great leader for our younger players on the field and in the locker room.''
