Napoli's preparations for its Champions League showdown with Manchester City have been affected by a small fire at the team hotel and a reported carjacking involving the wife of forward Marek Hamsik.

Napoli's press office says there was a very minor fire at the Holiday Inn in Castel Volturno, the town north of Naples where the club trains and gathers before matches. The cause was not immediately known and firefighters immediately put out the blaze without any apparent injuries.

Meanwhile, the ANSA news agency reports that Hamsik's wife Martina Franova was held up at gunpoint and forced to abandon her BMW. However, the car contained an anti-theft security system and was found abandoned shortly later.

Napoli needed to beat City at the San Paolo Stadium late Tuesday to revive its chance of advancing to the knockout phase.
