FIFA has lifted its suspension of Israel coach Luis Fernandez, the football governing body announced Monday.

Fernandez was suspended by world football's governing body last month because he had not obeyed a November 2009 disciplinary committee ruling regarding a long-standing debt he owed to a club in Qatar.

The debt has now been settled, and FIFA said Fernandez has been given the go-ahead to coach the team for the 2012 European Championship qualifiers against Latvia and Georgia at the end of March.

''I arranged things with FIFA so that I can be with my team,'' Fernandez said. ''Now everyone has to have one aim, to get six points from the upcoming two games against Latvia and Georgia.''

The 51-year-old Frenchman took the Israel job last March.

IFA Chairman Avi Luzon, who is a UEFA executive committee member, said: ''We are delighted with the official announcement from FIFA and we wish Luis and the team lots of luck.''
