FIFA has given worldwide lifetime bans to 14 El Salvador national team players who already had been suspended by their federation for match-fixing.

The case involves four international matches, including El Salvador's 5-0 loss to Mexico at the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup and a 2-1 loss in a exhibition against the United States in 2010.

FIFA says global sanctions also were extended against two players who received bans of 18 months and six months.

The El Salvador federation shut down the senior national team ahead of announcing sanctions last month.
