The two managers are close friends, with former Chelsea boss Mourinho tipped as a contender to take over at Old Trafford when Ferguson eventually steps down. Ferguson says he sees himself in the Portuguese, who led Inter Milan to a spectacular Treble in 2010. The Scotsman said in a new Spanish book titled Jose Mourinho, The Secrets of his Success: "I look at Jose and I see myself reflected in many of the things he does. "In the first year at Chelsea when I saw him running along the touchline at Old Trafford, he reminded me of my first years at Aberdeen, jumping, raising my arms, celebrating. "We're only human. We can't hide our emotions. They're always there, they're part of who we are, of our character." Ferguson is currently enduring a rough patch at Old Trafford after United crashed out of the UEFA Champions League in midweek. They have also been dealt a heavy blow with the news captain and influential centre-back Nemanja Vidic has been ruled out for the rest of the season after rupturing a cruciate knee ligament. With the Serbian out, Ferguson has challenged Rio Ferdinand to become United's defensive kingpin. "The experience we have with Rio, with one of the younger defenders alongside him, I think will be a good combination," he said. "We have to think about three games in seven days for Rio, but in this situation I'm sure he'll want to play on Saturday [when United are at home to Wolves]. "His form over the last few weeks has been very good and it probably isn't a problem for him, playing against Wolves. "But we have to consider the fact he's 33 now and had injury issues over the last two or three years, particularly with his back. "We just have to measure it closely in terms of how he feels and how he's looking."
