Ferdinand focused on United bid

Ferdinand has been restricted to just 12 appearances for United this season but he made his latest comeback from a back-related problem in Saturday's 1-0 win over Wolves. And though Ferdinand is expected to lead England at the World Cup in South Africa in the summer, the 31-year-old wants to focus on having a run of games for United. "It has been a bit stop-start," said Ferdinand. "Hopefully, I can get a run of games and we can have a good end to the season. "I've worked hard in rehab for the last few months and this game is what it's all about. I just want to play as many games as possible. "I half expected to pick up a twinge. I was told to expect a setback during the early stages of my return and the proof was in the pudding. "That did happen, but I didn't think it would keep me out for any longer than it did. "I'm not thinking about the World Cup at all. I think about playing for Manchester United. "My football is here at the moment. And everything else will click into place if I'm playing at United. That's the only way I look at it." Meanwhile Ferdinand has praised the performance of Dimitar Berbatov against Wolves after the oft-criticised Bulgarian played as a lone striker at Molineux in the absence of Wayne Rooney. "I wasn't surprised at Berba's work-rate," added Ferdinand. "To be honest if you look at the statistics you'll see that he's one of the hardest runners in our team and that he covers the most ground. "He's a bit languid and whatnot, but he really puts the effort in. "People see a different side to him, but I don't think that it actually reflects his importance to the team. He's appreciated by us and that's the most important thing. "I thought he was brilliant against Wolves. For one player to play up front on his own and occupy their back four the way he did was testament to his quality."
