FC Sion to ask FIFA for damages over Mrdja injury

FC Sion president Christian Constantin has started another dispute with FIFA by seeking ''several million euros'' compensation after Serbia forward Dragan Mrdja was injured on international duty.

Constantin tells Swiss daily Le Nouvelliste he will write to FIFA and Serbian officials demanding damages.

Mrdja tore knee ligaments in Serbia's 2-0 loss in Mexico on Saturday and is likely to be out for several months. The Sion president objects to clubs being obliged to give national teams their players, who then return injured.

Sion is a member of the European Club Association, which wants FIFA to insure international players' salaries.
