Ex-England star Gascoigne charged with 3 offenses
Prosecutors says former England midfielder Paul Gascoigne has been charged with two counts of common assault and with being drunk and disorderly following an incident at a railway station last month.
Gascoigne, who has battled alcoholism, was arrested by British Transport Police at Stevenage rail station on July 4.
Britain's Press Association says Baljit Ubhey, who works for the Crown Prosecution Service, confirmed that the 46-year-old Gascoigne has been charged with the three offenses. He has been bailed to appear at a magistrates' court on Aug. 5.
Gascoigne starred for England in the 1990 World Cup in Italy and played for Tottenham, Lazio and Rangers, among others, in a colorful career.
