Anzhi striker Samuel Eto'o has admitted PSG were interested in signing him in the summer but he has no plans to return to Western Europe.

The Cameroon international joined Anzhi in August 2011 from Inter Milan but speculation has continued to surround his future and PSG were linked with a move during the recent transfer window.

Eto'o says there was contact but has insisted he is happy in Russia and wants to carry on playing for Anzhi.

The 31-year-old has given no thought to retirement and fully intends to carry on at international level as well.

He told Canal+ Club: "PSG is a big club with a big manager in Carlo Ancelotti. There was contact, but I stayed at Anzhi. I am not returning to Western Europe.

"I am not stopping playing in six months, no way. I will also continue with Cameroon.

"At the start I was playing for money, but now I am well paid I do not play for money, just for pleasure.

"While the pleasure is there, I will continue."
