England defender Baines out of Euro 2016 qualifier vs. Slovenia
Leighton Baines has become the third player to withdraw from the England squad to face Slovenia and Scotland through injury.
Michael Carrick and Andros Townsend withdrew with groin and ankle problems earlier this week.
And just 24 hours before the Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia, Baines pulled out too.
A Football Association spokesman said: "Leighton Baines has withdrawn from the England squad and will miss the games against Slovenia and Scotland.
"The Everton defender picked up an injury in training on Friday morning and will return to his club for treatment.
"No further call-ups will be made at this time."
Roy Hodgson is expected to give an update on the nature and severity of the injury at his pre-match press conference, which is due to take place at 6:30pm.
Hodgson had planned to rest Luke Shaw for the qualifier against Slovenia, so he was left off the squad list the FA submitted to UEFA at lunchtime on Friday. That means the England manager now only has one left-back for Saturday's match - Kieran Gibbs.
The Arsenal defender was not included in Hodgson's World Cup squad but he worked his way back into the fold following a series of impressive displays in the Barclays Premier League.
Gibbs, who has four England caps, only made his first competitive start for the Three Lions in last month's 5-0 win over San Marino. Shaw will be allowed to be registered for the friendly against Scotland on Tuesday.
West Ham midfielder Stewart Downing missed England training on Friday, but should be fit to face Slovenia.
