He has featured just once since then, as a late substitute in the 5-0 loss at Manchester United. With first-choice left-back Maynor Figueroa having signed a new contract this month the Swede's options at the DW Stadium are limited and he is not in manager Roberto Martinez's long-term plans. Helsingborg - Edman's first professional club - have claimed the player has already completed a move but it is understood that declaration is premature. Edman, whose Latics contract expires in the summer, would be allowed to leave Wigan on a free transfer to get him off the wage bill and reports have suggested he will sign a five-year contract with the Swedish club.
