ROME (AP) Eder scored his league-best ninth goal of the season in Sampdoria's 1-1 draw at Chievo Verona on Monday in Serie A.

The Brazilian-born Italy international put Sampdoria ahead eight minutes in after splitting Chievo's defense to easily beat goalkeeper Albano Bizzarri.

Roberto Inglese equalized before halftime, taking advantage of poor defending to redirect in a cross for his first career goal in the top flight.

Through 11 matches, Eder has one more goal than Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain and three more than AC Milan's Carlos Bacca, Napoli's Lorenzo Insigne and Fiorentina's Nikola Kalinic.

Sampdoria is ninth, one point above four-time defending champion Juventus.

Also, Empoli moved up to 12th with a 1-0 win at Palermo as Riccardo Saponara rolled in a free kick under Palermo's wall.
