Fortuna Duesseldorf will play Hertha Berlin for a place in the Bundesliga next season after finishing third in Germany's second division on Sunday.
Duesseldorf's 2-2 draw at home with Duisburg was enough to secure third place on goal difference from St. Pauli, which routed Paderborn 5-0 at home.
Berlin finished third from bottom in the 18-team Bundesliga with a 3-1 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday, and will host Duesseldorf in the first leg of their playoff on Thursday.
The return leg is on May 15.

Greuther Fuerth, the second division champion, and second-place Eintracht Frankfurt were already assured of promotion.
