The French Football Federation says that Fernand Duchaussoy has been elected as its president on a permanent basis, after carrying out the role in a caretaker capacity since July.

The move was approved at a general assembly meeting on Saturday, the FFF said in a statement.

Duchaussoy took over after Jean-Pierre Escalettes resigned following France's World Cup debacle. France players went on strike at a training session and the team was eliminated at the group stage without winning a match.

Duchaussoy's mandate expires in June next year, when he can stand for re-election.
