Dominguez loses relatives in crash

Deportivo La Coruna defender Juan Dominguez has taken leave after learning that two of his relatives were among the victims of Wednesday's fatal train crash in Spain.

The 23-year-old centre-back, a native of Galicia who has spent his entire senior career at Deportivo, lost a cousin and an aunt in the crash near Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, which has claimed the lives of 80 people.

Deportivo released a statement on their official website to express their condolences to the player's family and the relatives of all the victims of the crash.

It read: "The coaching staff, backroom staff and first team squad would like to show our pain, solidarity and affection for the injured and the family of the victims of the train crash in Santiago, such as our team-mate Juan Dominguez.

"We put ourselves at the disposition of everyone affected by the tragedy. A hug from everyone at Deportivo for the people of Galicia, who have once again given a lesson to the world in solidarity, strength and empathy."
