Blackburn forward El-Hadji Diouf is hoping Morten Gamst Pedersen will soon put pen to paper on a new contract at Ewood Park.

Pedersen's current deal expires in the summer but Sam Allardyce has already expressed his desire to keep the Norwegian at the club and Diouf hopes he can do that.

"He's a good player and he's a good lad," Diouf told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

"He's done really well at the club for a long time and now everyone really wants to see him stay."

Meanwhile Diouf has expressed his confidence that Rovers can chalk up a fifth straight home win in the Premier League when they host his former club Bolton at the weekend.

"We play good football and we have got a good record at home," he said.

"The game against Bolton is a big game for the club. It's a big game for me and for everybody because the manager used to work for Bolton, me too as well.

"But you saw the game against Hull. We were very happy with that result because we knew after the game at Stoke (which Blackburn lost 3-0) that we needed that win.

"We got the three points against Hull, so why can we not look forward in the Premier League?"
