Deschamps hopeful of Fanni deal

Marseille coach Didier Deschamps is hopeful over securing the signature of Rennes full-back Rod Fanni despite interest in him from elsewhere.
The French international has been linked with a host of clubs, including strong connections with Liverpool, who is out of contract with his side next summer.
According to L'Equipe, the 29-year-old is not only being chased by the Reds, but another English club, as well as Spanish side Atletico Madrid, which could scupper the potential move.
Fanni is reportedly excited to move to l'OM, who are looking for a replacement after Spanish full-back Cesar Azpiliecueta underwent surgery on broken knee ligaments, and talks are unstood to be at an advanced stage.
Speaking after his team's 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday, Deschamps appeared positive that a deal could be agreed to see Fanni arrive at the Stade Velodrome at the start of January.
"I am optimistic-natured so I am hopeful," said Deschamps.
"There are talks so I hope it will be sorted out quickly.
"Could it happen before the weekend match against Auxerre? If it is possible, then why not?."
