Derksen lands Venlo job

The former Roda JC, FC Zwolle, Austria Vienna and VVV striker will oversee his first game at Roda on Saturday. "As a player, you just want to work on your passion. I seize this opportunity with both hands and then we'll see where it leads," he said on VVV's website. "My primary goal is to contribute to the survival of VVV-Venlo." Derksen's position will be reviewed at the end of the season. Technical director Mario Captein said: "We will look at how this season ends and discuss whether this is the basis for a structural addition to the technical staff." The club lie second-bottom of the Eredivisie standings with four games remaining of the regular season. They are 15 points adrift of fourth-bottom Vitesse Arnhem, so know the best they can hope for is a relegation play-off place.
