Manchester City center back Martin Demichelis has been ruled out for six weeks with a right knee injury, just days after joining the English club.
City says on Friday that a scan has revealed ligament damage, although the Argentina international doesn't require surgery.
The 32-year-old Demichelis has yet to play for City since joining from Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
City is already without injured defenders Vincent Kompany and Micah Richards.
