Former Juventus star Alessandro Del Piero will miss Sydney FC's A-League match Sunday against the Wellington Phoenix due to a right hamstring strain.
Sydney said Thursday that scans showed Del Piero suffered a low-grade strain during the scoreless draw with Melbourne Heart last Sunday, but the scan showed no tear.
New Sydney FC coach Frank Farina said ''it's a long flight (to the New Zealand capital) and with time differences it's not an option for him to play.''
Sydney is in last place in the 10-team league and is winless in five matches.
