Defoe has been out of favour for much of the campaign but has outlined his intention to stay at the club next season. He said: "Next season we want to try and get back in the Champions League and we have to try to win the Europa League. I'm looking forward to it already. "The season's finished, we can put it behind us, we finished fifth, a lot of good work from the boys, and hopefully next season will be a good one for everyone involved. "If you don't finish fourth you've got to finish fifth. I think we're good enough to finish fourth but overall it's been a good season."
