Defending champions Atletico Mineiro crashed out of the Copa Libertadores after a late goal earned Atletico Nacional a 1-1 draw in Brazil and saw the Colombian side advance 2-1 on aggregate.

The Brazilian hosts, needing a win to turn the tie around, started strongly and led 19 minutes in. Diego Tardelli's shot was blocked but the ball fell kindly for Fernandinho to score on the follow-up.

Jo went close to doubling their advantage but could not quite stretch to turn in Fernandinho's cross.

As the game went on, the visitors began to enjoy more possession but Sherman Cardenas wasted what appeared to be their best chance when through one on one with Victor in the 73rd minute, allowing the goalkeeper to get in the block.

However, with only three minutes left, Victor could only palm Edwin Cardona's effort into the path of Jefferson Duque, who levelled.

Nacional will now face Uruguay's Danubio in the quarter-finals, which also match Paraguay's Nacional against Arsenal of Argentina, San Lorenzo against Cruizeiro, and Bolivar against Lanus.
