De Boer wants consistency

The two sides square up twice over the next week, firstly on Sunday for the KNVB Beker, then next weekend in the final match of the Eredivisie season which will decide the destination of the title. Ajax will head into that crunch game a point behind, but De Boer knows that with more consistency his side could have held the advantage. And it is that quality which the former Holland international is demanding from his players. "In games we always have times when we play well," he told Ajax's website. "But these periods should be longer. We must be consistent. It is still too volatile. "There is much to be gained for us. But it will be hard, especially against a team like Twente. "Yet we have a lot of confidence that these two games against Twente will end well for Ajax. "We are in good spirits for the double. That's our goal." Captain Jan Vertonghen is in no doubt which of the two matches he would rather win. "If I had to choose, I would choose the league of course," he said. "But of course I want to win the cup. "There's no question of underestimating the cup, and Twente deserve that. They have done very well this season, in Europe too." Peter Wisgerhof , his opposite number at Twente, said: "As a team we are now completely focused on the cup final. "The next match is always the most important and that's the case here. "We play on Sunday for a great prize and we'd love to win this cup." Coach Michel Preud'homme admitted the two sides were in a unique situation. "It's one week where we can win two trophies," he said. "It is not a form of pressure that you have in other things. "We have all worked for years to come here as a team."
