United States and D.C. United midfielder Santino Quaranta was recovering from foot surgery on Wednesday that will sideline him for the rest of the season. Quaranta underwent a procedure to repair a ruptured plantar plate in his left foot's first metatarsal. He is expected to be sidelined for four to six months. Quaranta had a similar injury in his right foot in 2006 while playing for the New York Red Bulls. He finished this season with two goals in 22 games. He also played four times for the U.S. this year, scoring his first international goal in a Gold Cup game against Honduras in July.
