D.C. United have decided not to pursue a permanent transfer for Sochaux striker Charlie Davies.
Davies played with United this year on loan from the French club. He started strong but played less as the season wore on, finishing with 11 goals in 26 games, including 18 starts.
Thursday's announcement by the club opens several possibilities for the 25-year-old American who returned from a 2009 car accident that nearly took his life.
United could negotiate another loan for Davies, or he could return to Europe as part of a deal between Sochaux and another club.
