Andy Najar scored in the 107th minute as D.C. United advanced in the U.S. Open Cup with a 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night.
Najar found a seam between Tony Beltran and Will Johnson about 12 yards out, then burst through to beat Kyle Reynish low.
Barry Rice helped United hang on, kicking out a pair of loose balls from the goal line in the final minutes when goalkeeper Troy Perkins couldn?t make the play.
United, which reached the U.S. Open Cup championship last year, will next play in the round of 16 on June 29.

Both teams took advantage of two late penalty kicks, thanks to handballs in the box. Luciano Emilio gave United a brief lead in the 75th minute, but Johnson tied the score on a penalty kick 6 minutes later.
