Chung-Yong Lee headed home the winner after Wanderers twice had leads cancelled out by the home side, with Kevin Phillips' spectacular volley looking as though it would earn Blues a replay at the Reebok Stadium. However, Davies drove his team on and headed across goal for Lee to grab the winner in the final minute of normal time. He told ESPN: "The fans were absolutely amazing today and they kept us going all the way. I'm proud to be part of Bolton Wanderers." Davies lost an FA Cup semi-final while at Chesterfield back in 1997 and admitted: "It's been an unlucky trophy for me at times, but as captain of this club I just wanted it so badly. It's brilliant and we'll celebrate. "All our substitutes made an impact for us, and now we're going to Wembley." Johan Elmander gave Bolton the lead but Cameron Jerome drew Birmingham level by half-time. Davies restored the visitors' advantage with a penalty after he was tripped in the box by Blues defender Curtis Davies before Phillips made it 2-2 with 10 minutes to go. For Carling Cup winners Birmingham, the battle is now on to ensure they hold on to their Premier League status for next season. Bolton boss Owen Coyle was impressed by his team's efforts and felt the introduction of Mark Davies and Lee on the hour mark made a big difference. "It was two teams that were very positive and trying to win the game at the first time of asking," he told ESPN. "I thought we had to take care of the ball a bit better and we did that when Mark and Lee came on. Sometimes the substitutes benefit from all the hard work that went before them. "Our fans were outstanding today and that's what made it a great cup tie." Bolton have not won the FA Cup since the late Nat Lofthouse, who died earlier this year, inspired them to a final victory over Manchester United in 1958. Asked if his team wanted to win the trophy to honour Lofthouse's memory, Coyle added: "It would be lovely to go and do that but there a few obstacles in our way, but we will do everything in our power to win this competition." Coyle showered praise on matchwinner Lee, adding: "I think Lee is capable of playing for any team. He hasn't had a break for two years though and we have to be careful with him."
