Czech Republic beats Latvia in friendly

Roman Bednar, Martin Fenin, Zdenek Pospech and substitute Tomas Necid scored a goal each in the second half to lead the Czech Republic to a 4-1 win over Latvia on Wednesday.
Bednar collected a pass from Jaroslav Plasil and his low shot past goalkeeper Andris Vanins found the back of the net in the 49th minute. It was a first international goal for the West Bromwich Albion forward.
Fenin made it 2-0 five minutes later when Zdenek Pospech crossed for Fenin to score from close range.
Pospech added the third from the edge of the area in the 74th minute as the Czechs dominated play. Necid finished the scoring for the Czechs from close range three minutes later.
Substitute Aleksandrs Cauna scored a consolation goal for the visitors in injury time when he beat the offside trap.
''We can be satisfied with the score,'' Czech playmaker Tomas Rosicky said.
It was the only warmup ahead of the start of 2012 European Championship qualifying for the two teams.
The Czechs open the campaign Sept. 7 at home against Lithuania while Latvia hosts Croatia Sept. 3.
