Athletic director Jack Graham said Thursday that Colorado State will add women's soccer and compete in the Mountain West Conference beginning next fall.

Graham also said the school was eliminating women's water polo as an intercollegiate sport at the end of the season. The Rams began the water polo program in 2005 and play in the Western Water Polo Association.

With the addition of Colorado State, every member of the Mountain West now has a women's varsity soccer program. Said CSU President Tony Frank: ''This is a great step for women's sports at Colorado State.''

A search for a soccer coach is under way. The team will practice at an on-campus facility and play home games at a nearby soccer complex while a more permanent solution is figured out.
