The Swede arrived at the Reebok Stadium in the summer of 2008 in a £10million deal from Toulouse but struggled to live up to his price tag, netting only five goals in each of his first two seasons in England. This term has been a different story, though, and, by scoring the equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Wigan at the DW Stadium, Elmander has already equalled that tally. Coyle said: "I'm thrilled for him because he had a very good start (to the season) and people were obviously giving him praise, but he's continuing that, and that's very pleasing. "He's a joy to work with, and to see somebody come through the other side after being panned every week speaks volumes for him, not only as a footballer, but as a man - the mental belief he's shown to see himself through that. "If I played a small part in that then I'm delighted but ultimately the person that deserves all the credit for that is Johan Elmander."
