Brazilian club Corinthians says it has acquired Peruvian midfielder Luis Ramirez until the end of 2014.
The 26-year-old Ramirez had been playing for Peruvian club Universitario de Lima. He replaces Brazilian midfielder Elias, who transferred to Spain's Atletico de Madrid.
Ramirez has been capped by Peru's national team and previously played for local clubs Coronel Bolognesi and Cienciano, as well as Paraguay's Libertad.
With leading star Ronaldo out of shape, Corinthians failed to win a title last year. It is a four-time Brazilian champion and Brazil's second most popular club behind Flamengo.
