Four goals from Jose Maria Cardenas gave Mexican side Santos Laguna a 5-2 win over Trinidad's Joe Public in a CONCACAF Champions League Group B opening-round match on Wednesday.
Cardenas struck twice in the first-half but the Eastern Lions equalized on both occasions with goals from Makan Hislop and Yu Hoshide. Cardenas settled the match with two second-half goals at the Marvin Lee Stadium.
Santos Laguna travels to Guatemala's Municipal and Joe Public is at the MLS's Columbus Crew in the second round next week.
