Former Canada international Colin Miller has been hired as his country's interim national coach.

The position had been vacant since Oct. 18 when Stephen Hart resigned, days after Canada was eliminated from World Cup qualifying following an 8-1 loss to Honduras.

Miller takes charge ahead of friendly matches later this month against Denmark and the United States.

Miller was Canada's interim head coach in 2003 and 2004 and was an assistant on its 2003 Gold Cup team. He played in Canada's World Cup team in 1986.
