FC Sion coach Laurent Roussey has resigned, extending a season of turmoil for the Swiss club that has been marred by off-field legal battles.

Roussey tells Swiss daily Le Matin that he ''couldn't continue to work calmly like that,'' citing problems with club president Christian Constantin.

Constantin was the driving force behind legal challenges to FIFA, UEFA and Swiss football authorities, after FIFA had barred the club from signing new players.

Sion was kicked out of UEFA's Europa League and had 36 league points deducted by the Swiss Football Association.

Roussey says he goes ''with a clear conscience,'' leaving Sion last in the nine-team league and facing a relegation playoff.

Sion won the Swiss Cup during his 15-month stay.
