Clough: New slate for derby game

BY foxsports • September 26, 2012

Derby manager Nigel Clough insists the Rams' results against Nottingham Forest last season will have no bearing on what happens on Sunday.

The Rams recorded a first league double over their neighbours in 40 years last season, winning 2-1 at Forest and 1-0 in the return fixture at Pride Park.

But Clough believes there are so many new players in both teams, that those games will not matter.

Forest have made 11 signings under new boss Sean O'Driscoll, while Derby are likely to include four players - Richard Keogh, Conor Sammon, Paul Coutts and Will Hughes - who have not sampled the A52 showdown.

"Forest have a different team to last season and we have a few new lads in there as well, so I don't see what happened last season having a bearing on the game," said Clough ahead of the City Ground clash.

"Yes, Forest will be determined to do well. But so will we. And it will be interesting to see what happens with Sean O'Driscoll now in charge because he likes his team to pass the ball. Whether they will still try to do that to the same degree in the atmosphere and pace of this game, we will see."
